It is a real thing!

 

Occasionally I come across something I feel is worth sharing. Today I heard of Real Estate Investigation. Yep, it is a real thing!

What is it? Well, to cite a professional investigator it is:

“A service for real estate agents, home buyers and those buying investment properties”, states David Oliver, owner of Chief Oliver Detective Agency.

What can they uncover?:
• Homicide on the Property
• Other Criminal Activity
• Drug Manufacturing Laboratory
• Problem Neighbors
• Drug Activity on the Property
• Sex Offender Residing in the Vicinity
• Owned/Occupied with Contagious Disease
• Home Value Decline
• Artificial Home Value Inflation
• Death on the Property

Have you ever looked at real estate ads and think the property is perfect for your needs, only to see it and be disappointed? Or, as some people shared on the Facebook post Check out the post

“From the minute we met the owner something was off”. Turns out, the person was only trying to collect rent money but had no rights to the property.
“I rented an apartment and wondered about damage to the front door and weird splatter under the paint” Tenant was afraid to ask because they did not want to know the answer.
“The stories I’ve heard from the neighbors about the previous owners make me wonder”

Purchasing a home or investment property is a large item purchase and you should do your due diligence to be sure you are buying what you are being sold.

As a professional insurance provider, we do our due diligence on our end but time to time we may uncover claims made by the current owner. Some properties may have had recurring claims, such as water damage. We can disclose some of this to our client, when we need more information, but can not provide the report. This is where having your purchase investigated would be a huge benefit.
