Ben was a second generation owner of the E. H. Sutton Insurance Agency, beginning his life long career in the insurance business in 1958, until his son, Benjamin D. took that role in 2017. He worked alongside his father, the late Edward H. Sutton, until his father’s retirement.
Ben graduated from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH in June 1955 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. He immediately joined the United States Air Force and became a Navigator; reaching the rank of First Lieutenant and serving until his honorable discharge in 1958.
His many roles, in addition to President of the agency, he is a Commercial Insurance producer, highly specializes in Public Entity insurance and consulting for 40 plus years and currently serves as Executive Vice-President of the agency. He is known for his public speaking and is a published writer on various insurance topics.
In 1944 the Society of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters, known as CPCU, was formed. Ben earned his CPCU designation in 1965 and remains a Life Member of the Akron-Canton Chapter. He also obtained his Associate in Risk Management (ARM) Designation in 1967. He also served as President and member of the Kiwanis Club of Aurora, as well as numerous clubs and organizations.
Ben remains in Aurora with his wife of over 60 years, Sue and together they raised 4 children. They are life members of the Church in Aurora.
